The Galapagos:
The Baja:
La Paz to Loreto through the Sea of Cortes, the most diverse marine biosphere on earth – the Galapagos of Mexico perhaps? With hundreds of miles of stark, roadless shoreline broken only by a few small fishing villages and a chain of deserted islands offshore, the only way to see this region is by boat. Hike and explore on foot through cactus groves or kayak and snorkel along the shore before getting back on board for a late morning breakfast of huevos rancheros. This afternoon perhaps a close encounter with a Blue, Fin or Sperm whale … who will believe your stories in the hot tub tonight? Plan a reunion for your extended family of 20 or 12 of your best buddies from high school in the real Baja on your own yacht – you will be the hero.
Under sail on the Turquoise Coast with Lycian ruins visible through the crystal water; ancient tombs dating back some 2,500 years, carved into the cliffs and overlooking the shoreline. Intimate dinners in coastal hamlets and villages at low tables surrounded by kilim covered cushions and rugs woven by hopeful girls for their dowries; morning hikes through deserted Roman amphitheatres; fresh fish, succulent calamar and octopus flavoured with fresh herbs grilled by your on-board chef on the aft deck as you sip a glass of “aslan sutu” or lion’s milk, the local raki. A week just won’t do it all especially if you start in fabled Istanbul, a city with unsucceeded history and presence. Guided boat-based walking trips planned with competence and spontenaity in this rich and diverse country, including extensions to Ephesus, unbelievably still only partly excavated, and the and the timelessly abandoned landscape of Cappadocia.
Greece:
Weave your way through the Cyclades by private yacht, from Sifnos to Santorini and on to rugged and isolated Amorgos. Go ashore daily to walk ancient stone pathways and terraced hillsides to lunch in a whitwashed hamlets; or simply stay on board and watch the cliffside villages go by – stopping to swim in secluded coves whenever you want. Spend the day exploring ancient sites and dance until dawn in the local tavernas to celebrate Greece… all this with your 10 best friends.
Come to the playground of Roman Emperors – the Dalmatian Coast. With 1100 islands to choose from we are sure that there are at least a dozen that are perfect for you. Why not begin in the walled city of Dubrovnik and cruise down to Kotor, Montenegro to hike the mountains around the old capital of Cetinje. Then north to Sipan and Korcula, the birthplace of Marco Polo, and onward to Hvar or Vis and the mainland in Split. From there you choose – north to Venice via the maginificent Kornati Islands or hug the coast to Trojir and onward to colourful Mali and Veli Losinj? Hike the islands or the mainland during the day and then regroup for cocktails on the aft deck to decide on dinner. The Roman Emperors had it right!
